Couldn't add Michael to this bug, got message saying he doesn't have bugzilla account.
See bug 51132 for discussion on removing the floating view toolbars feature. Floating view toolbars are trying to solve the wrong problem, and they add many other new problems without actually solving the one problem they were intended to solve. Please just give up on this feature, and consider it a lesson learned.
See bug 51191 for discussion on the location of the new-look perspectives bar, and other new-look perspectives bar issues.
Wow - finally noticed and read bug 37997. (I wasn't searching for "fly-out" originally, and the bug's title is vague). In that bug report, RandyH and GunnarW have more good points to add to my arguments that the "floating view toolbars" feature should be punted. Randy's point that the view toolbar used to display (useful!) status information is a good one. For example, the Search view used to display the current search in its title bar, and that info is now lost (and it is very noticable, once you have done several searches and you wonder which one is currently displayed... with the new-look, you have to go look at the pervious search results drop-down in order to see what the currently displayed search is... yuk). So... where should I be putting my comments? This bug report, or bug 37997? Seems to me that this one that I have been editing is a duplicate of 37997, but 37997 is so packed full of information spanning multiple drops that it's a bit hard to sift through unless you have been following along (and I just jumped in recently...)
bug 51628 covers philosophical discussion for a more native look
