Frequently the need arises to compare a file in the workspace with a similar file, either in a another workspace or in the native file system.  Currently compares like these must be done outside of the product.  This means the ability that the product has to copy the differences, can not be used.  It would be extremely useful to be able to compare a file from the workspace to a file outside the workspace, while in the product.

Possible solution:

1) Right click on a file in the Navigator view.
2) Select "Compare with ..." and then select "External file" (New function).

The files are compared and the compare editor is opened showing the split screen view of both files (similar to compare with each other option).
