Currently, Quick Access provides: * Editors * Views * Perspectives * Properties * Commands * ... It's cool itself! However, consider these ideas: * Mylyn tasks * Google Suggestions * Market Place Search Results... * And so on... What if Quick Access can be extended by third party, It must be cool. I would be likes Spotlight feature of OS X and iOS. It should have to provides lazy content providing mechanism and UI configurations page to allow user can choose priority or enablement. How do you think?
It would be great to have all searching available from one place. Incremental results are cool and can work really well. As an example, Eclipse Quicksearch (org.springsource.ide.eclipse.commons.quicksearch.feature.feature.group) provides free-form text search results incrementally without any UI hangs. The same UI could work for a universal Quick Access as well, I think.
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. -- The automated Eclipse Genie.
