When launching Eclipse, if we select a workspace that was previously used with an older version of Eclipse, then we're proposed to update it. As it may be some kind of hazardous operation, proposing to backup that workspace first could be nice.

Of course, there maybe lots of data into the workspace then a backup could take a while. I let you decide what could be user friendly and efficient to implement a useful backup...
If it's just something like warning the user and taking him to the appropriate location to make it himself by hand, that would already be nice I think.
