Having perused the javadoc and the source for these its plain that there is support for these classes in the platform. However, there is no implementation of MultiEditor that one can view to gain insight on how to make custom editors of this kind. The action required is an example or an article on this. Cheers, Geoff
See the following link for how to make article suggestions: http://www.eclipse.org/arg/future.html
An example is mentioned in this bug.. "Sample MultiEditor page" https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=14408 Sure maybe the article request was invalid but, respectfully, the example request is not. Geoff
The doc's would be helpful if they were several examples to view and use as a template for design, as it stands now this is an important feature within eclipse that is passed over rather quickly. Too vague to be useful.
Moving to UI for consideration of adding better examples/doc for MultiEditor.
Created attachment 6088 [details] TiledEditor example
I've attached the TiledEditor example which was developed to test the MultiEditor when it was developed. It would need more work to turn into a publishable example.
Much obliged!
Created attachment 22642 [details] tilededitor example updated to work in 3.1
Sorry, mostly updated to work in 3.1 ... 3.1 doesn't actually support the MultiEditor ... see bug 96129 And the menu item has to be added by customizing the perspective :-) PW
As per http://wiki.eclipse.org/Platform_UI/Bug_Triage_Change_2009

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
