Hello, We performed Section 508 and Usability test on the Mylyn 3.8.4 before approving for our team to use. Are there any plans to address the following issues or can bugs be opened to address in future releases? Is there a timeframe for when these might be addressed? 1. Information about user interface elements is made insufficiently for JAWS to read - Within the "New Task" pane, note that when the “Task”, “URL” or “Notes” text box is accessed, information about identities of these text boxes is made insufficiently for JAWS v14.0.5005 to identify. JAWS reads “tab edit type in text” for every text box and does not include the label indicated identity of the text box. For the radio buttons group, JAWS does not include the legend, “Status”, which is related to the radio buttons. 2. The “Create a new subtask” button is not accessible via the keyboard - Within the “New Task” pane, continue pressing the Tab key to access every user interface element. Note that after the “calendar” button is accessed, there is no tab stop for the “Create a new subtask” button. The user must use the Mouse Keys to access the “Create a new subtask” button. Expected Result: The “Create a new subtask” button is expected to contain a tab stop or shortcut key in order for keyboard users to access and select it. 3. No label or tooltips for the priority drop-down - The priority drop-down does not have a label or tooltips provided to help user identify the function of the drop down button, even when the mouse hovers over the button. To see what the field contains, the user has to click on the drop-down arrow, and must logically interpret that the field is for priorities. This can be verified by Help.
Thanks for reporting these issues. 1. I'm assuming JAWS refers to the screen reading software and "New Task pane" to the task editor. It would probably be non-trivial to fix this issue and due to time constraints we won't be able to resolve it in the near future. The bug has been marked helpwanted though to indicate that we would be happy to support a community contribution to resolve it. 2. The new subtask and open with browser buttons do seem to be missing from the tab order. Note that these are also accessible via the context menu. Frank could you look into this? 3. The priority dropdown has a tooltip which is just the label of the current priority, e.g. "P3." Frank, do you think it would make sense to change the label to "Priority: <current priority>"?

Yes we do not have this in the tab order. But I see now way how we can fix this. Reason is that Eclipse itself do not have all controls in the tab order. Try it with the global toolbar. Maybe this is a SWT Problem. By example tab order includes "New Java Package" but not "New Java Class" > > 3. This is only a change in the private method PriorityAttributeEditor.updateEditor(). Should I do this and create a review?

create review https://git.eclipse.org/r/18542 for the change of the Priority Tooltip
Created attachment 237539 [details] mylyn/context/zip
the review is now merged in master.
Thank you for your request. The bug has been marked helpwanted to indicate that we would be happy to support a community contribution to resolve it.
Mylyn has been restructured, and our issue tracking has moved to GitHub [1]. We are closing ~14K Bugzilla issues to give the new team a fresh start. If you feel that this issue is still relevant, please create a new one on GitHub. [1] https://github.com/orgs/eclipse-mylyn
