We are using Kepler (4.3.0) and the compatibility layer. Our plugins are still Eclipse 3.x style. We have a use case where bundles are dynamically installed and started and later stopped and uninstalled.

In Eclipse 3.8 all commands, views and editors were properly removed from the registry and the UI.

In Eclipse 4.3 this doesn't work at all for views and menus and only partly for Editors. (The editor registry seems to be updated, but if an editor is open in the UI, it is not properly closed).

To reproduce: e.g. just create plugin and use the extension point wizards to add sample view, sample command and sample editor. Now try uninstalling and reinstalling it. Doesn't work on 4.3...

The issue still occurs in Eclipse 4.4.1 RC3 and 4.5 M1. Shouldn't this bug be marked as major and included in 4.5 plan? It looks like a quite serious regression.

This looks like bug 405296.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
