import should do a breadth first seach, and offer "cancel". closing the wizard should cancel the operation. repository folders should not be searched at all (.svn, .git, .hg, .bzr). it would be nice if the dialog window would be larger, or at least remember the last size, especially as maven projects tend to have .project files deeper in the hierarchy, and screens are more wide than high. currently it searches depth first and descends into folders like .hg and .git searching for ages. closing the import wizard gives an error "wizard cannot be closed due to an active operation. you must cancel the operation before ...".

Do you refer to the 'Import Existing Projects into Workspace' wizard?
yes, exactly
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. -- The automated Eclipse Genie.
