It would be great if the incremental search mode displayed a nested or 
overlaying Text widget on top of the StyledText widget (I am not talking about 
a shell, just a sibling to the styled text).  This would do the following:

1)Make the "mode" more obvious to the user.
2)Make it more obvious when the mode has been exited, i.e. by pressing escape, 
or perhaps during focus lost or whatever other mechanism you may have for 
existing the mode.
3) Makes it easier to see what you've typed, especially when using BACKSPACE 
during the search.

Another part of this request is that the overlayed control would have to be 
automatically placed just below the revealed range of text.  Otherwise it might 
cover up the range.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
