Description Genady Beryozkin CLA 2003-07-18 12:46:25 EDT
currently it is only possible to set regular message or error message.
an option to display warning messages would be nice.
Comment 1 Darin Wright CLA 2003-07-24 11:50:12 EDT
We inherit this behavior from TitleAreaDialog. Moving to Platform UI as a
feature request.
Comment 2 Tod Creasey CLA 2003-07-28 09:43:24 EDT
Likely some API that uses an IStatus would be good for this.
Comment 3 Genady Beryozkin CLA 2003-07-28 14:53:07 EDT
I was thinking more about #setWarningMessage(), but any reasonable solution
will be ok.
Comment 4 Tod Creasey CLA 2004-03-29 10:08:27 EST
Not on the 3.0 plan
Comment 5 Genady Beryozkin CLA 2004-05-06 17:22:05 EDT
I don't think we should use IStatus here, since there is no "operation" that
returns this status. simply providing the TitleAreaDialog behavior should be
just enough.
Comment 6 Tod Creasey CLA 2004-06-28 11:28:13 EDT
Reopening now that 3.0 has shipped
Comment 7 Genady Beryozkin CLA 2006-03-10 08:59:38 EST
I stumped into this issue once again. Is a solution foreseable for 3.2?
Comment 8 Susan McCourt CLA 2006-03-13 11:58:03 EST
Unfortunately we have passed API freeze for 3.2. Since this bug is currently at P4, I don't see this happening without someone making a strong case to raise the priority.
Comment 9 Susan McCourt CLA 2007-06-29 13:02:03 EDT
This message is part of a mass update on bugs that have been reviewed for several releases, but not fixed. The bug is legitimate, but not a priority. Marking P5. Patches would be entertained.
Comment 10 Genady Beryozkin CLA 2007-07-01 04:25:49 EDT
Ok, I'll propose a patch.
Comment 11 Susan McCourt CLA 2007-07-05 14:26:49 EDT
I think the best solution would be to implement a status message presentation that was used consistently on all JFace dialogs. So I'm making this dependent on bug #148085.

As per http://wiki.eclipse.org/Platform_UI/Bug_Triage_Change_2009

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
