Description Chris Long CLA 2012-12-06 11:05:01 EST
It would be nice to be able to copy resource filters from one file to another. I have a couple of folders linked to my workspace from elsewhere in the file system, and I realized I'd like to copy the set of filters I just set on one of them to the other one.

I've thought of a few ways this might be done in the UI:

1. Add a Copy button to the "Resource Filters" property page, and (one or more of)
   a. Add a Paste button, too.
   b. Cause Copy to bring up a dialog for selecting the target to copy to
   c. Enable Paste on the file (e.g, in the Navigator)
2. Add items to the context menu in a file view (e.g., Navigator), like "Copy Filters".

A workaround is to put the folders that should have the same filters under a common parent. The problem is that it breaks the paths I've set up elsewhere in the project (e.g., classpath).

I thought about closing the project and copying the configuration manually in the relevant xml file (.project, I think), but every filter has an "id", so I don't know if that would actually work.

Thanks for your work on Eclipse.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got
resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some
reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it.
The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you
still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is
(for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

If the bug is still relevant, please remove the stalebug whiteboard tag.
