Sources that describe the problem

When trying to merge detached entities with a bi-directional relation some changes were always overridden by cached values.

For more details see the discussion: http://eclipse.1072660.n5.nabble.com/detached-object-changes-aren-t-completely-merged-tt156056.html#a156243

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 404171 ***
Comment 5 Ralf Ebert CLA 2013-07-26 07:54:28 EDT
This ist not a duplicate of bug 404171. The error initially described still exists in 2.5.0-SNAPSHOT despite the patch provided is in there.

This bug needs to be reopened.
Comment 6 Gordon Yorke CLA 2013-07-26 08:43:26 EDT
If you are still experiencing these symptoms please feel free to reopen this bug. Please specify the build date of the 2.5.0 jar you are using.
Comment 7 Ralf Ebert CLA 2013-07-26 09:56:06 EDT
Bug exists in http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/rt/eclipselink/releases/2.5.0/eclipselink-2.5.0.v20130507-3faac2b.zip

It seems I don't have sufficient rights to reopen that bug. (Or I'm too stupid to find the button that does it...)
Comment 8 Gordon Yorke CLA 2013-07-26 10:12:50 EDT
User reports bug still reproduces in 2.5.0
