Description Jaeguang Lee CLA 2012-07-18 00:51:42 EDT
Hi.
I'm a Korean android developer and of course my mac runs in Korean language. I found kind a inconvenient situation while I write a comment on my code in Korean. In English, we type a key then a assigned character is input right away. But in Korean, we type multiple keys until it completes just one character. Before it completes a character, there's no inputting and it just 'still inputting'. The Problem is, when I type command+s to save my code or command+space to change key input source or type a direction key to move cursor, etc., the 'still inputting' character is gone because it's not completed.
Normally, text editing controls are complete those 'still inputting' characters automatically when it lost focus.
Maybe lots of Asian java developers who using eclipse feels inconvenient often, because it's annoying me so much. Everytime I write a comment, I must type more keys to keep the will-lost-character. I found this issue on January this year and still exists.
Please solve this issue.

Thank you always.
Jaeguang Lee.

Just to clarify: the problem happens when you want to type stuff into the Java editor and the same problem happens in the normal Eclipse Text editor?

Any update on this?

Sorry for late. My mac was disabled while I reinstall and backup it several times.
Same happens in the text editor, Yes. I confirmed just before.
And there's another thing I have to tell you.

Typing a enter key needs to complete the 'inputting state character' too

current process:
- inputting character => Enter key => finish the inputting character (Enter key is ignored)
- inputting character => Comma key (or other 1byte characters like ?, /, etc.) => (finish the inputting character and) comma character

normal process of Mac, Windows:
- inputting character => Enter key => (finish the inputting character and) LINE FEED

I started to report this thread in Eclipse. But I can't submit this comment in Eclipse because it says 'submit disabled, please check Credentials and refresh'. In Bugzilla Repository Settings window, I typed my valid account and password, it says 'Authentication credentials are valid' when I click 'Validate Settings' button. Clicking Finish button then it shows the error message again. So I write this comment in web browser. Is there something wrong what I've done?

Moving to SWT since we don't do anything special in the normal text editor, regarding character input.

Not sure what this is about, but definitely not related to this bug. If you have problems filing a bug in bugzilla, then please talk to the webmaster.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
