Currently the Trac connector supports the MasterTicketsPlugin. I believe it uses the "blocks" and "blocked by" fields to achive this. This works very well but since blocking does not actually represent the parent/child relation I have searched for another plugin and found http://trac-hacks.org/wiki/ChildTicketsPlugin which uses the "parent Id" field instead. In fact one could use both plugins at the same time to represent different relations - child tickets to decompose big task into smaller ones and master tickets to show which tasks block another. It would be nice however to be able to tell Mylyn to use the parent-child relation (from childtickets) for Mylyn's subtasks instead of currently used masterticket. Perhaps an option at the task repository level where a user could choose which field to use to express this dependency?
Thank you for the great bug report. That sounds reasonable to support a configuration option to configure which parent/child representation to show in the task list: MasterTickets, ChildTickets or Both. I'm marking this bug helpwanted to indicate that we would be happy to resolve this enhancement through a contribution.
