Description Jan Dieckmann CLA 2003-03-17 09:01:00 EST
First of all I like to say that eclipse is a great tool. I'am running eclipse under Mac OS X on
a notebook computer and the standard fonts of Mac OS X are to big for an IDE. I would
like to see more of my Java source code. Here are some proposals. May be it would be
possible for the eclipse team to realize some of them.

- Use smaller font for the status bar.
- Add an option "hide statusbar".
- Use smaller font for the titles in tab registers. This would augment the hight of the
source code region and would let me see more titles.
- Add an option "hide extension in titles of tab registers". The Java icon for example
already shows that the source is a Java source.
- Make the width of vertical bars on both sides of the editor window smaller.
- The width of all treeviews could be smaller. Use smaller font for the nodes. There is to
much unused space between the triangle and the icon. May be an option "hide icons in
treeview" would be helpfull. May be having an option "hide top level node" is an good
idea.
- Many of the modal dialogs could have a smaller default size.

Again I like to work with eclipse. It is the best Java IDE I know.

best regards
Jan Dieckmann

We are in the final days of Eclipse 2.1 and cannot make any such changes at
this stage, however we are planning to consider various changes to the look and
feel for 2.2. Should consider some of the suggestions above.

Note that you can change the font size for various aspects via Window >
Preferences > Workbench > Fonts.

ccing Erich for your kind words about JDT.

Defering. Please re-open this bug if you feel it is important for R3.0.
