Description Knut Radloff CLA 2003-02-25 17:49:17 EST
build RC1

Drag and drop support between Eclipse/Motif and Gnome and KDE is very spotty.
DND does not work at all between KDE and Eclipse/Motif.
Ctrl+Drag from Eclipse/Motif to the Gnome desktop results in a Gnome error "An
invalid drag type was used". Drag moving to Gnome is not accepted by Gnome
(drag is cancelled). Dragging from Eclipse/Motif to Nautilus, the Gnome file
manager, crashes Nautilus.
Dragging from Gnome into Eclipse/Motif does work fine.

Dragging from KDE into Eclipse/GTK does not seem to work. The other direction
does.

See also bug 33093. In that bug Veronika mentions that the desktops have to use
the X Dnd mechanisms for Dnd to work on KDE.

To what extend is dnd supposed to work on Linux? It seems like it "almost"
works with Gnome.
Comment 1 Knut Radloff CLA 2003-02-27 13:58:01 EST
There are too many DnD variants not working on Linux. I don't think this is
worth spending much time on at this point in the cycle.

Defer
Comment 3 Knut Radloff CLA 2003-04-07 11:47:10 EDT
Investigate improving dnd on Linux for 2.2
Comment 4 Knut Radloff CLA 2003-09-02 17:13:28 EDT
Reassigning to Nick since he is taking ownership of DND.
Comment 5 Nick Edgar CLA 2006-03-15 11:50:24 EST
Reassigning bugs in component areas that are changing ownership.
Comment 6 Eric Moffatt CLA 2006-06-23 15:41:31 EDT
Cleaning up defect lists by setting ones without recent traffic to 'REMIND'.
Comment 7 Denis Roy CLA 2009-08-30 02:11:54 EDT
As of now 'LATER' and 'REMIND' resolutions are no longer supported.
Please reopen this bug if it is still valid for you.
