Description Eric Moffatt CLA 2010-11-23 13:42:47 EST
This defect is to keep track of the projects wishing to test against the 4.1 SDK and to capture the resulting defects.

To Test:

Install the Eclipse 4.1 SDK from http://download.eclipse.org/e4/sdk/ (Please use a milestone release (M3 now or M4 when it comes out).

Install your project on top of it (using whatever you would do to get it into a fresh 3.x SDK install)

Run the install and test your project's features:

Perspectives
Editors
Views
Import / Export / New Wizards

Also check the main menu / toolbars as well as each View's toolbar, drop down menu and context menu(s). Are the items there and are they appropriately enabled?

Use the features of your project as you would normally, anything that doesn't work as it does in 3.x constitutes a defect in the compatibility layer...

Feel free to contact me directly or join us on IRC at #eclipse-e4 if you have *any* questions...

NOTE: If you open any defects related to your testing efforts would you please mark them as 'blocking' this defect ?

egit does not work in e4. Try to play throught http://www.vogella.de/articles/EGit/article.html

1.) Git Repo view does not work
2.) History view does not work
3.) Most Team actions do not work

The Ecore Tools do also not work. Try to create a diagram and edit the diagram, e.g. add and delete you receive a NPE. See Bug 331377

I found differences in the behaviour of the selection model. I have a view that listens to the workbench selection and it seems that the selection is cleared when i select something inside my view (which is not a selection provider). This works fine on 3.6 but not on e4. Sorry that I cannot provide further insight by now if I find time I need to explre that in more detail.

Hi Thomas, thanks for the bug report. I have created bug 331668 for this problem and have attached a patch there. We can continue the discussion on that bug, thank you.

this now works with EGit 0.11.1 on e4

Ping. It seems that this bug and all it (recursive) depends on can be updated, I expect that all referenced features run on Eclipse 4 now.
Comment 10 Eclipse Genie CLA 2021-07-02 02:06:07 EDT
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
