Description Curtis Windatt CLA 2010-11-05 10:59:34 EDT
The new update button on target definitions is a great feature, however we can improve it by giving the user more feedback. Currently when the user presses the button, they have no idea how the operation went. The update may succeed and update to a new version (the user doesn't know what version), it may fail, or it may have no newer version to update to.

This is worse in the preference page case as the update job runs in the background with no way of knowing the status of the job.

this is also related to Bug 329207 in that working through the pref pages the user does not get much insight into what's going on or the ability to cancel.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
