If a full development workspace I added all *.xml to the Ant view (including 
all with errors).
Remove all in the Ant view with this many build files and the view refreshes 
and flashes for some time.

Can't reproduce. If you look at the code, we remove all the build files from
the content provider and then refresh exactly once. See
AntView#removeAllProjects()

I can't reproduce either.
