I have not been able to find out how to make a cvs update so that new directories are also retrieved.
In the Team->CVS preferences there is a "Prune Empty Directories" option (turn it off).
there is also an option in the project's CVS properties page to turn -d on or off (it should be on by default).
Yes I found the option in the project properties dialog. The "Prune" option is different, and I wonder why both are not in the same location?
Just to clarify: -d is not prune, -P is prune -d means add repository directories that don't exist in the local working copy The option to prune is under Window | Preferences | CVS The option to add missing repository directories is under the Project properties Current setup is not intuitive as I also couldn't find where to set -d until I found this bug report. There should be both a global default and a project override.
For most of our projects, I like (or am use to) "Prune Empty Directories" checked, but we have one project that needs it to be unchecked before synchronizing against the server. A project level override for the "Prune Empty Directories" option would be most welcome.

Is this a dup of bug 39341 and bug 43112?
