h1. Steps to Reproduce * Put some characters into the search field of the Task List view * Click on "Search Repository for key or summary..." ** Expected Result: Task Search dialog opens with the given key in the summary ** Actual Result: Task Search dialog opens but the content is visible for about 1 second and then blanked out Using the "Search" view and the "Refine Search..." pop-up menu entry gives the same result. h1. Woraround Switching to another search tab and back refreshes the view. -- Configuration Details -- Product: Eclipse 1.3.0.20100617-0521 (org.eclipse.epp.package.jee.product) Installed Features: org.eclipse.mylyn_feature 3.4.0.v20100608-0100-e3x
Thanks for the bug report. I was able to reproduce this but it does not seem to happen all the time. We'll need to investigate further.

Steffen, I found that this is not only an issue with task search. Even if I call "File search" this happens. I am currently using Kubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron, but my colleague reports that this also happens with Kubuntu 10.04. Therefore, I would escalate this to the Eclipse core: Could you move it on to e.g. Platform / Search? I am not allowed to do so.

Created attachment 175396 [details] Result of calling Search / File... Anything above "Scope" is empty.

Already provided the steps in the description. Here is another example independent of Mylyn: Menu: Search / File... (see attached screen shot) Workaround: Switch to another tab and back.
>Already provided the steps in the description. >Here is another example independent of Mylyn: Well, the Eclipse SDK does not contain Mylyn and hence void your steps. Can you reproduce with this build: http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops/R-3.6-201006080911/index.php If so, with what steps?
(In reply to comment #7) > http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops/R-3.6-201006080911/index.php > If so, with what steps? Will do so as time allows. Before I was using Kubuntu Hardy 8.04, now I am using Ubuntu (GNOME) 10.04. Only change noticed: - With Kubuntu 8.04 the content was shortly displayed, then disappeared. - With Ubuntu 10.04 the content never shows up.
>Will do so as time allows. OK, thanks.
This looks similar to bug 321121 (same user & setup).
(In reply to comment #10) > This looks similar to bug 321121 (same user & setup). But the empty search area also happened with Kubuntu 8.04 before the upgrade. At this time, I had two separate desktops (X11 displays) instead of a common desktop spanning over two displays. Do you think this is also related to dual-monitor setups?
This happens on my machine, too (Ubuntu 10.04). I also have Mylyn and several other tools that provide an additional search pages. It's somewhat difficult to reproduce. Sometimes I always get that error, sometimes the error does not show up at all. Maybe some concurrency problem (does mylyn connect to servers in a background thread even if not focused?).

This is not related to Mylyn, but is a general "feature" of the "Search" dialog. Please try it with other searches, e.g. using menu "Search / File...". In this case, at least the lower part is visible. I really do wonder why nobody at Eclipse core team takes care.
Is this still reproducible with Kepler (4.3)?
More than a month without reply from submitter and I can't reproduce. Closing. Please reopen if you still experience the issue with supported Eclipse version.
