In addition to Eclipse freezing when using content assist, it seems to free when I hover over an object or method. I am running Eclipse 3.5.1 (build ID 20090920-1017) on Windows XP, but I have tried Eclipse 3.3 as well, and the problem exists on both. The problem only occurs when I am connected to the internet.
