This is not a regular bug as I *DO NOT* intend to work on it *anytime soon*, it is more for highlighting a possibility (see tags). The expansion/selections API in viewers should be backed by a cached/deferred mechanism until an element is actually needed or used by another one of its API. The tree viewer, particularly, is used in numerous places for high volume data in the IDE and several rcp-products. An improvement in this area appears to be very promising. I have some thoughts on this - demoed here : http://random-tech-thought.blogspot.com/2009/11/filter-without-jitter-watch-treeviewer.html
I guess this could wait longer than I expected.
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
