Description Xavier Méhaut CLA 2003-01-31 03:32:41 EST
Hello,
It could very good to be able to save ther Working set options in files in
order to share or transmit these options with other developpers.
regards
Xavier

What exactly do you mean with "working set options". Do you want to exchange
which working sets are selected in views, or the actual working set contents
(i.e., the definition)?
Comment 2 Xavier Méhaut CLA 2003-01-31 12:09:08 EST
It is possible for instance in a navigator to define worksets filter. It could
be good to be able to save in a file these configurations .
regards
Xavier

This assumes that the recipient has pretty much the same workspace as the
sender. Otherwise you may have resources in your working set that are not
present in the workspace.
I'm marking this as a P4 because while it may be a useful feature I'm not sure
it is worth the effort.
Note that the working sets are stored in the org.eclipse.ui.workbench metadata
in the file workingsets.xml. You could copy that entire file if you wanted to
transfer all working sets.

Not for 2.1, defer.

Investigate for 2.2

Bug 36965 is relevant. It discusses sharable user settings. Working sets would
be one.

Reassigning to Nick since he is taking ownership of this component.

You can now share working sets via the option on the Switch Workspace dialog. It's not as powerful as what you suggest but it's likely all we'll have time for.

Is it still necessary as the Oomph! project gives us this functionality (dynamic working sets and recording of settings)?
