-Strikethroughs- are are useful facility, perhaps particularly so when it comes to to editing tasks.  What makes them less useful is that they are hard to notice in editing mode.  If straightforward, I think that it would be useful to have this rendered.

Great request.  The same problem is there for underline.

this is something that should have been there, but wasn't due to a bug in the code.

Nice.  Consider it for the New & Noteworthy, since you might end up with a "markup display improvements" item where this is worth listing.  I also think it could we worth highlighting the use case of putting a checklist in a task that has an editable description, eg.:
* -Figure out dependencies-
* -Set up workspace-
* Get hacking
