Description thomas menzel CLA 2009-11-06 03:43:27 EST
hi,

when developing a large project with a lot of bundles then the dialog page to select the target project or resource gets rather cumbersome to find the location.

it would be nice to add the following:
- search text box to filter for the project
- an option to hide closed projects, b/c useually you dont want to patch closed but only active projects
- selection of working sets, that stays selected between applying patches.

it would be really nice to deduct the projects from the patch itself, although this is only sensibly possible when the patch is on bundle level. so a button: "guess target resources" would be really cool.

Would incorporating a part of Open Resource dialog (Ctrl + Shift + R) into the Apply Wizard work for you? I'm talking about the search field in particular + an option to select containers as well (projects, folders).

It's bug 227775.

Sounds reasonable.

The Apply Patch wizard works like that if you're applying a patch generated with 'Patch Root' option set to 'Root'

yes, smth along these lines i had in mind, but i'd like to find mainly projects rather than their containing files.

ah, thx for point that out, but it doesnt work if you have to skip path elements.
that is why i said: deduct

Understood, these would be a nice features to have but we don't have the manpower to address it at this time. Patches will be accepted, I'm eager to help if you are willing to provide a fix. Bug 227775 seems to be the best one to start with.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
