The command 'org.eclipse.ui.edit.text.gotoLastEditPosition' will try to open a non-existing resource in some circumastances. To reproduce: 1. Open Foo.java 2. Edit, Save, Close 3. Rename Foo.java to Bar.java 4. Hit: Go to last edit location in the toolbar Actual: a 'placebo' editor opens with the message: Resource '/.../Foo.java' does not exist. Expected: Go to last edit location is disabled
Dani, is this something where the platform should contribute a participant to the move refactoring and update our history? PW
I guess a simple resource listener would also do the trick.
FWIW: rename is not the only way to cause this. It can also be reproduced by closing the project which contains the file and then hitting Go to last edit.
Any progress on this? It seems to affect 4.2 as well.
(In reply to comment #4) > Any progress on this? It seems to affect 4.2 as well. Yes, the bug is not fixed and therefore appears in 4.2. There are no resources to work on this, but help is welcome.
New Gerrit change created: https://git.eclipse.org/r/46024
Apart from the dependency issue, with the gerrit patch 46024 "Go To Last Edit Position" is disabled but "Back to file name" is still enabled and it opens a placebo editor ( with message that the file doesn't exist).
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. -- The automated Eclipse Genie.
