I wish there were a way to discover what a specific key sequence is bound to, like emacs "Ctrl-h k" feature. Currently, you must either just try out the sequence to see what it does, search for it in the Ctrl+Shift+L table, or bring up the key preferences and type the key names in the filter text.

I think it would be fine if this were simply a feature of the key preferences view. The Binding field in that view already allows you to enter a sequence directly, but doesn't apply it to the filter.

You are correct, in 3.5 you are restricted to simple text filtering. You have to type out what the keys would look like (cumbersome) or some fragment thereof ... i.e. I would type +K to find out what CTRL+K would execute.

Bug 275464 is to support pressing the keys directly into the filter for searching.
