There should be a way to add a script in an external file (i.e. outside the 
workspace) to the view.

As well, things do not work well when the project containing the script is 
outside of the workspace. NPEs and such.

See bug 29668 for a project to import. 

Place the project outside of the workspace
Import
Search for build files
Use the run button for the discovered build file for the external project.
