Screenshot of the dialog.

This is just an opinion, but when this dialog first comes up with the list disabled, it's difficult for the user to figure out what to do. The user has to either:
- Click on the link to the preferences and set the default launcher there.
- Or, Check the "Override workspace setting" checkbox, which sounds kinda dangerous :-), then select the launcher.

My suggestion would be to get rid of the "override" checkbox and just have the list always enabled. Also we could get rid of the checkboxes in the list since they make it appear that multiple items could be selected.

I figured programmers liked a little danger :)

agreed, the override checkbox does not add additional usability to the dialog, and with the link there to take you to the workspace preferences, users will likely understand they are 'customizing' the launcher for this particular instance.

fixed in HEAD

I removed the check boxes from the list to make it more clear, and I re-worded the pref to use a specific launcher for the current config. I found that I could not remove the option to specify a launcher / use workspace otherwise there was no way for a user to remove a preferred launcher and go back to using the workspace default.
