Description Susan McCourt CLA 2008-12-10 18:59:51 EST
I did a quick review of the pref pages in the SDK that show lists where the user can add/remove/edit items in the list. In p2 we have some bugs involving issues such as:
- should you prompt before removing something in the list?
- should add/remove be immediately committed or should cancelling the dialog go back to the original state?

I wanted to see how other pages do this, and I noticed inconsistencies right away in behavior and terminology. This is not an exhaustive list, just what I noticed.

Content Type - no prompt on remove, adds and removes are committed even if user cancels out of the dialog
File Association - no prompt on remove, adds and removes ignored if user cancels
Network Connections - no prompt on remove, adds and removes ignored if user cancels
Help Content - prompts on remove, uses the word "Delete", no ellipsis on "Add"

We may need some guidelines on some of these issues. right now the user goes into the pref page and enters their own little world.

assigning to Kevin as an SDK consistency issue

Changing Version tag to something more believable.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
