1) Open the Default Text Editor preference page (under the Workbench section).
2) click 'Default'

You should see the following text:

Text Font: courier-regular-10

'courier' is a font name and should be 'Courier'.  If you click 'Change...' and click ok (not changing the
font) it sets it to 'Courier'
