Build ID: M20080911-1700 Steps To Reproduce: There current implementations of MultiPart-Editors are realized with a lot of internal package classes. When I tried to implement my own MultiPartEditorPart which is nearly the same as an MultiPageEditorPart without tabs, it was impossible to do this in a simple way. Also the MultiEditor doesn't work for me because of the needed MultiEditorInput. What I like to see is an abstraction of the MultiPageEditorPart without the tabfolder control the complete control over the layout. More information: Currently there are three types of "MultiPart" editors. The MultiEditor which only works with a MultiPartEditorInput and cannot be opend vie the open editor-action of the workbench. The MultiPageEditorPart which forces the use of tabfolders and has no way to replace them. The MultiPageEditor which allows to replace the createPartControl but is deprecated
Being able to nest parts is on the plan for 4.0. For 3.x, this would require a lot of work, for which we don't have the resources. Contributions from the community would be appreciated, but it won't be easy to get this in.
Remy is now responsible for watching the [EditorMgmt] component area.
