1) Open an editor on an external file (drag drop something in). 2) Delete that external file from disk Once Eclipse notices, you get a prompt: The file has been deleted or is not accessible. Do you want to save your changes or close the editor without saving? Save Close I would like to keep the editor open without saving the content. So it just becomes a buffer. Later when I am done, I can close the editor, and perhaps a prompt to save would be appropriate then.
Yeah makes sense.
This is not restricted to external files but to any file that's open in the editor and gets deleted outside Eclipse.
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
