Description Jon Schneider CLA 2008-09-24 16:02:39 EDT
Build ID: I20080617-2000

Steps To Reproduce:
1. Open Eclipse on a system running Windows XP SP2, running dual monitors, with the primary monitor (as defined in Windows' Display Properties dialog) on the left, and the secondary monitor on the right.
2. Move the main Eclipse window onto the secondary monitor, and maximize it.
3. With one or more Eclipse detached secondary windows (i.e. the window in which the "Problems" view or "Package Explorer" view is located), move the secondary window such that it is either (3a) *directly* adjacent to any edge of the primary monitor, or (3b) *directly* adjacent to the *top* edge of the secondary monitor.
4. Change Eclipse to a different Perspective, and then back to the original Perspective.

Expected behavior: At this point, the expected behavior would be for the secondary detached Eclipse windows to remain where they were placed (i.e. against an edge of the secondary screen, or against the edge of the top screen).

Observed behavior: The window(s) which were placed against an edge of the secondary screen have moved to the center of the secondary monitor.

This issue does *not* occur when:
- The Eclipse main window is located in the primary monitor, not the secondary monitor.
- The secondary detached window is even a single pixel away from the edge of the screen, instead of directly against the edge.

More information:
The utility "WindowSpace" (http://www.ntwind.com/software/windowspace.html) can help with placing a window directly against an edge of the screen. See also this thread on the WindowSpace forum with further discussion of this issue: http://www.ntwind.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2305

The specific configuration in which I originally encountered this issue is:

Windows XP SP2, dual-monitor setup
Left Monitor:
- Primary monitor (#1)
- 1400x1050 resolution
Right Monitor:
- Secondary monitor (#2)
- 1680x1050 resolution
- Horizontally aligned with monitor #1 (top and bottom edges of this screen line up with those of screen #1)
- Windows taskbar / Start menu is located here (along the bottom edge of the screen)
- Eclipse is running maximized here

Changing Version tag to something more believable.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
