When starting Eclipse I get asked for the proxy authentication every time to check for Updates.

This information should be taken from the preferences.

are you shure this is a duplicate?

229374 is about authentication against a server (that we maybe do not know so far)

I am talking about authentication against my local proxy, which I give explicitely in the eclipse-preferences (menu / window / preferences / general / network connections / enable proxy authentication ...)
