In extension point: 
org.eclipse.ui.editors.markerAnnotationSpecification

The current selection of "annotation styles" over text is very limited.

At present all I can do is select a master shape (SQUIGGLES|BOX|DASHED_BOX|UNDERLINE|IBEAM|NONE) and a color.

It would be great if there was an option for a custom painter or at least:
- Support for varying line thickness (to make certain annotations more visible)
- The ability to place an icon o the border of the drawn annotation in the text
