Description Jörgen Rapp CLA 2008-07-29 14:18:45 EDT
Build ID: 3.4 ganymede j2ee

Steps To Reproduce:
1. In the package/navigator there are filters
2. It would be nice to be able to see only the files that have changes based on their team status, sort of like in synchronize but only as a filter that removes unchanged files.
3. It would be even better if there was options to set which team status types should be exposed

Do you have in mind a particular use case? Is there something specific you are missing in the Sync View? What you ask for is already done in the Sync view: obviously it does show incoming/outgoing changes, moreover you can easily switch the display mode to show only certain type of changes.

I'm looking for a way of being able to focus on less files while I am still doing work on them, in this case the ones that have changed or are added, Sort of like Mylyn, but less specific (not tied to a task). And since there already is a filter function I imagined that it wouldn't be to hard to specify something like "exclude unchanged files" or exclude files with a last change date earlier than a date. Or more logical to me would be "only show files that matches <criteria>", where criteria can be package(s), name(s), last modification date, team status, ???,...

It think it would be helpful, that's all. Maybe it could be it's own view "filtered view", not sure if that would be better or not. Actually the way Mylyn works with toggle filter is pretty nice, something like that is what I imagine.

Sure the synch view works well for what it's supposed to do, but that view can't be linked to the editor and to what I currently work with.

So I'm adding a filter based on modification date to the wish list.

Pinging on the bug because it changed while Bugzilla e-mail notifications were turned off. Please look at this bug (click on "View Bug Activity" under "Related actions") to see what the change was.

Mmh, I can't see anything in there? What makes you think it changed?

More useful team based criteria file filters: changed by:<user>, created by:<user>

interestingly I just stumbled on this plugin which is supposed to do something similar based on the name:
EclipseResourceFilter

Jörgen, have you tried defining a common filter in org.eclipse.ui.navigator.navigatorContent/commonFilter? You could then try to bind it with the Sync view using org.eclipse.ui.navigator.viewer/viewerContentBinding/contentExtension. You probably won't get the Filters options available right away, but making your filter work would be the first step in fixing this bug. I don't have much experience in configuring a common navigator, so I'll just point you to an article you may have find useful: http://scribbledideas.blogspot.com/2006/05/building-common-navigator-based-viewer.html. Please, let me know how did it go.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
