You use the version number "2.0" for two different things: For once, it is the number of a particular version (also known as GM6). Secondly, it has also become a synonym for the entire 2.0.x - family of releases. (Look at the splash screen of 2.0.1.) I think this will lead to confusion. If I'm telling you I'm using "2.0", you'll be confused; you don't know if I'm telling you I'm using an unspecified 2.0.x version or specifically GM6. I suggest that the "about" box of GM6 should have shown "2.0.0" rather than "2.0". Of course, this really hints at the first release of the 2.1 versions. It should call itself, in the about box, 2.1.0, not simply 2.1.
I don't think the confusion warrants the 2.1.0. The about box shows the correct version of the products, 2.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.2 and 2.1 Also, tacking on trailing zeroes does not scale very well. If we ship a 2.0.2.1 (God forbid) we could then have to backdate 2.0 to 2.0.0.0
