Description Wylie Garvin CLA 2002-09-12 09:53:24 EDT
In my Eclipse Java debugging environment on Windows 2000, I noticed that the
Navigate menu has almost twice as much space reserved before its menu items as
the icons actually need. The same thing does not appear on James Moody's setup
on Windows XP. I noticed it in the Java Debug perspective but it also appears
in other perspectives.

On James's machine (XP) the Open Type... and Open Type In Heirarchy... items
do not appear when he is in the Resource Perspective, but they do appear when
he is in a Java Perspective.

On my machine they appear in Java and Debug Perspectives, and also in the
Resource Perspective (bogus?). My Window/Customize Perspective.../Other
settings have the Java Navigation check box cleared (this appears to be the guy
who is supposed to control whether those items appear or not. On my Windows
2000 machine it doesn't work).

The contents of my Navigate menu (in all perspectives) are:
    Go Into
    Go >>
    ---
    Open F3
    Open Type Heirarchy F4
    Open Super Implementation
    Open External Javadoc Shift+F2
    ---
*** Open Type... Ctrl+Shift+T
    Open Type in Heirarchy Ctrl+Shift+H
    ---
    Show in Package Explorer
    Show in Navigator View
    ---
*** Next Ctrl+.
*** Previous Ctrl+,

This appears to have more stuff in it than it should--my customization settings
are the defaults. In particular, the Other.. subtree only has the following
items checked: External Tools, Help, Search, Software Updates.

I have another Windows 2000 machine here and I just tried it, it doesn't have
the bogus-looking menu. It seems to obey my (default) Customization settings.

I now shut down and re-started the Eclipse with the bogus menu, and it seems to
work properly again. The menu contents are much shorter, apparently respecting
the Customization settings. The icon width is normal.

When I go into Customize Perspective... and check every box, I get the same
menu contents that were mentioned above, but the icon width is still normal.

If I figure out how it got into that bogus state/how to reproduce it I will add
that info here.

Is this still an issue in 3.2? Note that we no longer support Win 2000 officially
Comment 4 Denis Roy CLA 2009-08-30 02:08:37 EDT
As of now 'LATER' and 'REMIND' resolutions are no longer supported.
Please reopen this bug if it is still valid for you.
