I have a vested interest into getting DTP as a internationalized project so that my company can build on it. As noted here: http://wiki.eclipse.org/DTP_PMC_Meeting%2C_May_20%2C_2008 As far as Babel goes, Doshiro is working on DTP translations - based on the SQL Query Builder feature, probably ~90 plug-ins of the 100+ DTP plug-ins, in 6 languages. When Ganymede is released, we will send the Actuate-contributed translations to Babel or let them know the translation is available in CVS. Then it is up to Babel to create NL packs for them. In any case, since the translations are in DTP CVS, anyone can access them directly. This bug should help track down the progress of the DTP project regarding its integration with Babel. I am looking forward to help translate it in French!
The 6 languages being translated for most of the DTP plugins include French. They are German (de_DE), Spanish (es_ES), French (fr_FR), Japanese (ja_JP), Korean (ko_KR) and Chinese (zh_CN). To see which plugins are already covered, see the DTP CVS repository (/cvsroot/datatools). Look under the "nl" sub-folder of each project in HEAD version.
Is there a build for those translations ? Are they published along with the DTP plugins ?
I don't believe these are pubished yet along with the DTP plug-ins, but that the plan is to deliver these into Babel once Ganymede is released.

The actual translation is done by SDL International(http://www.sdl.com) and all the cost is paid by Actuate Corporation. Same as [Bug 238688] BIRT 2.3 Translation for 6 languages in group 1 Thank you, Doshiro.

The DTP project isn't actually defined in Babel. Can someone on the DTP project log into Babel and use the For Committers link to define the map files used for DTP 1.6? http://babel.eclipse.org/babel/map_files.php I recommend using either 1.6 or 1.6.1 but not both.
Hey Denis... Cool. Are there any step by step "Babel for Dummy Committers" kind of resources so I can see what I need to add the map files?
Actually, Babel is designed for dummy committers like myself. Open the ViewCVS URL above in one Window/Tab 2. In another Window/Tab, log into Babel using your Bugzilla account: http://localhost/babel/login.php?submit=Logout 3. Click "For Committers" in the top navbar 4. Choose DataTools 1.6 in the project/release drop-downs 5. In ViewCVS, click the first map file, and copy the "download" URL for DTP_1_6_release_200806181028. Paste the URL in the Babel window, tab over, then save. NOT THIS ONE -------------- | v Links to HEAD: (view) (download) (annotate) Links to DTP_1_6_release_200806181028: (view) (download) (annotate) ^ | THIS ONE ---------------------------------------- 6. Repeat steps 4,5 for each MAP file I've done the first one for you -- connectivity-plugins.map. It's very important to pick the version of your release tag (DTP_1_6_release_200806181028) otherwise we'll be pulling the map files from HEAD, which is a moving target.

Thanks Denis. Guess I just needed the steps dumbed down for me. :) (Sorry, been a long week already) I've added the enablement, modelbase, and sqldevtools maps to the connectivity map you added. So we should be good to go (famous last words). Thanks for the help!
btw... is that process documented somewhere with a link to the doc from the Babel site? might be good for other "dummies" like myself. :)
It is documented, just not in such painful detail. I've added some wording to the map files page to explain the Download tag link.

I've imported the DTP contribution into the Babel staging area. I all looks sane, except for a few Spanish translations that will need to be corrected manually. For some reason, the file's encoding is unknown to the importer, and I can't figure it out. You can have a quick look at the import here. Simply pick a language and choose to show the last 5000 translations: http://babel.eclipse.org/staging/recent.php Unless there are any major objections, I'll import this into the live database later today.
I've imported all the languages except Spanish, which contains some files with odd encodings. We'll try to work it out and import Spanish ASAP.

Created attachment 111006 [details] es_ES translations in escaped unicode format I've spot checked 15 - 20 files (not every single one though). I think the es_ES files are in ISO-8859-1 encoding. I've converted them into escaped unicode format. Denis, please try to import them. I will take a look at the output on the server.
That was good, Kit. I imported it on the staging area and it looked muy bien. It's been imported on the live server. We're done here. Thanks for the contribution!
