Created attachment 98000 [details] Screen shot Build: I20080429-0100 1) Started up a brand new workspace with this build 2) Opened the CVS Repository Exploring perspetive -> The perspective buttons in the top right corner disappear
It looks like it's because the "CVS Repository Exploring" perspective button is just too big to fit in the perspective bar, whereas the default "Java" button fits ok. Seems like it should resize the area to fit at least one button, or trim the button size to fit the available area, or switch to icons, rather than showing nothing at all.
John, I'm pretty sure it's been this way for quite a while...it's a trade-off between taking up too much space (possibly wrapping the CoolBar on small screens) versus having enough space to show some open ones. I think that it's 'tuned' (if you can call it that...;-) to be able to show the Java and Debug perspectives at the same time. This is a bit tough to fix since we're talking the 'display name' of the perspective (which gets translated)...
Ok, I was in testing mode and just entering bugs for anything that looked wrong.
I've considered changing the logic to allow the (clipped) display of the first (usually the current) perspective if nothing will show otherwise. Do you think that'll help ?
Yes, I think showing *something* is better than just a blank space, even if the text is truncated.
This would also be consistent with the behavior of view and editor tabs, that can be compressed down to any size and just show as much text as possible in the space available.
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
