Description Chris Grey CLA 2008-04-07 08:08:52 EDT
Build ID: I20080207-1530

Steps To Reproduce:
1. Open Eclipse (I'm using the CDT IDE)
2. Go to help search
3. Search for "Spell Check"

More information:
I was requested to open this bug by the CDT team as per bug 225598. Refer to it for more details.

The 3rd entry of the "Checking Spelling" entry of help indicates:
3. Start the spelling checker by clicking Edit > Spell Check

However in the CDT, it's actually Edit>Quick Fix (Ctrl-1).

Sorry, I can't see such an entry.

The "Checking Spelling" help entry does mention that its instructions are for checking spelling in HTML, XML, or other file that uses a structured markup language. Perhaps there is no coverage in help for spell-checking of JDT and CDT IDE editors?

Until I wrote up the previous bug, I wasn't aware that "Quick Fix" was what I needed to be using to do spell checking. Knowing that, searching on "Quick Fix" gives me the details I was looking for but not finding using the words "spelling" or "spell check". Perhaps all that is needed is some metatagging to associate the Quick Fix topic with people searching for help with Spell Checking in code editors. It might also help to include as the help topic link the words "including Spell Check" to make it more intuitive to users that this is what they are looking for.

We can definitely add some more help about this but not for
  Edit > Spell Check
As this is not part of the SDK (most likely WTP).

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
