Description Roberto Scaramuzzi CLA 2002-08-02 13:14:46 EDT
The contents of the "My Computer" tree in the lower-left-hand pane of the update
manager are not sorted when the tree is expanded. This makes it very hard to
navigate through the tree. I have only verified this bug under Linux-GTK; the
bug is not present under Windows. It may or may not be present under other
Unices and/or Linux-Motif

Since my Bug was marked as a dup, and this one claims it's not a problem on
Windows, I thought I'd chime in and report it IS a problem on Windows as
well ...

I never noticed it on Windows. However, in the gif that is attached to Bug 22387 the problem is clearly present. I notice that the drive on which it happens is some sort of network drive. It's possible that it only happens on network drives on Windows.

In fact, most of the listy things in the install/update UI are not sorted.

- My product is an 'extension' product, and under Current Configuration, the
two directories that make up the product (the primary and extension) are not
sorted. Not a big deal since there are only two items, but if I had a product
that was made up of a lot of extensions, I'd want them sorted.

- Under Current Configuration, under my extension, the list of current features
is also not sorted.

- Under Current Configuration, under my extension, for 'nested' features,
the 'children' are not sorted.

+ Under Configuration History, all the configuration entries (by date) are
sorted by date, which is obviously what you want.

- Drilling down under Configuration History, the children underneath, like
Current Configuration, are not sorted.

No gif this time, don't want to reveal too much about my product at this
point ...

But I would obviously like EVERYTHING sorted.

Fixed, needs testing.

Sorting now enabled in both the Configuration and Updates views.
