Description Amy Wu CLA 2008-02-25 16:54:08 EST
It'd be nice if there were some way to prioritize hyperlink detectors both from the hyperlink detector contributor perspective as well as from the user perspective.

From the contributor perspective, perhaps an additional attribute in the hyperlink detector extension point indicating priority level. Or maybe as part of the IHyperlink interface when detectHyperlinks is called in the hyperlink detector.

From the user's perspective, in the hyperlinking preference page, in the table of hyperlink detectors, have the ability to move hyperlink detectors up and down the table to indicate priority.

The hyperlinking will be improved for 3.4: there will be a hover that allows to select if there's more than one available.

The requested priority would only be used to bump one of those up to be the default hyperlink i.e. the one that can be clicked directly without to move the mouse down into the hover with the other links. Do you still think this would be needed?

See bug 215473 for details.

If bug 215473 is going to be fixed soon, then I don't think this will be as needed, but it'd still be nice to have.

It's targeted for M6.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
