Description Joel Hawkins CLA 2008-02-06 11:00:54 EST
When serializing EPRs for cosmos components, the underlying muse infrastructure replaces the hostname supplied for the managed resource with the IP address corresponding to the host name. This may cause problems when communicating with IPv6 networks or when re-basing a given host onto a different address.

The WSDM Binding can control how the resource address is expressed in the resources endpoint. Currently, addresses are all represented in dotted format, which may cause issues for IPV6 integration, and also makes moving a resource more difficult. Of course, using the hostname instead of an IP address requires that hostname tables be kept up to date, etc., so there are defensible reasons for supporting both options.

An ideal solution would have the following characteristics:

1. provide a reasonable default.
2. provide a mechanism for changing the default globally, and
3. provide a mechanism for individual overrides.

Moving all open bugzillas that are targeted to iterations in the past to the next iteration (i13).
