Created attachment 87980 [details] a red arrow marks the respective locations for a rightclick Build ID: I20071213-1700 Currently the editor tabs right-click menu is utterly useless. It has more the character of a system menu, popular windows systems offer under the icon in the main window in the upper left corner. I suggest, moving the block of file-wide actions from the in-editor right-click menu to a new right-click menu on the filename in the tab. The system-menu can be a click on the icon. I'll attach a mock up screen, to clarify these three menus ... Benefits: - A smaller in-editor menu - A better distinction of file-wide and cursor-specific commands - Maybe additional commands available from right-click-menu in package-explorer, like file-wide refactorings
This would have to be provided/enabled by Platform UI.
The PresentationAPI has been deprecated with the Eclipse 4.x release and it has been replaced with the CSS engine. I therefore close this bugs as WONTFIX. In case your bug report is still valid for the Eclipse 4.4 release, please open a new bug report for it.
The idea of this feature request is still valid, only the mockup screenshot may be a bit old-fashioned.
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. If the bug is still relevant, please remove the stalebug whiteboard tag.
