Whenever I start eclipse, I have a black box in the coding area. I can remove the black box by grabbing one of the side menus or bottom menu and stretching it over the black area and lowering it back down. I have tried getting a fresh copy of eclipse and I still have the same problem. I even deleted my settings and still have the same problem.

Which version of Vista are you using and do you change any of your workbench settings?

Also which virtual machine and which version? Older VMs have a problem with the Windows Presenation Framework on Vista.

I am running Vista Business 64bit. My settings are default. What do you mean by virtual machine? Like in VMware or something? Because I am running this natively.

Which java virtual machine do you run Eclipse with?
Comment 6 Justin CLA 2008-01-29 20:17:36 EST
JRE 1.6.0_03
Comment 7 Tod Creasey CLA 2008-01-30 07:50:58 EST
I assume that is a Sun VM?
Comment 8 Kevin McGuire CLA 2008-01-30 11:53:56 EST
Recommend we move this to SWT. I've seen other Vista 64 bit specific bugs fly by that were SWT.

I agree with Kevin. I believe that I saw something similar in the early days with WPF...

Can someone from SWT comment?

There have been many drawing problems similar to this (though not quite the same) reported while running on 64-bit Windows. The other reports are all fixed as of eclipse 3.4M4 (bug 142965), so I would suggest giving this build a try. Please follow up here with whether this fixes the problem for you or not.

Well, after testing around using Eclipse SDK Version: 3.4.0 Build id: I20071213-1700 seems to have fixed it. Thanks.
