Probably my most often used shortcut besides code assist is Ctrl-Shift-T to open a java file. However, I often find myself wishing there was something similar for any file (e.g. a .properties or .xml file, or anything else), where I could search/narrow on the qualified name of the file. I find it frustrating to navigate to the file when I know the name and just want it opened. Thanks, Andrew
Go to the Navigator view From the context menu choose Go To > Resource...
Aha... I searched and search but couldn't find that one (context menu on my least used perspective) :) Let me change my request, then: - I would like access to Go To -> Resource from (at least) the java perspectives - I would like (an option) to open it in the editor rather than just jump to it - I would like a shortcut for it :) (Ctrl-Shift-R? "Open Resource"?) Obviously this is not a critical feature, but thanks for listening :) -Andrew
Someone from the community could provide a plugin that would contribute these actions.
+1 In the Java world I find myself using "Open Type" most of the time. Only for opening a resource I need to go to the Package Explorer or Navigator to find my resource either manually or using Go To). Having an "Open Resource" action users could even configure their perspective to only contain the editor pane :-).

In I20021113 build, there is an action set "Navigate" that adds a menu entry to go to a resource and to open a resource. It's still a WIP type of feature but usuable at the moment.
