Description Willian Mitsuda CLA 2007-11-15 16:01:10 EST
I have to say that I don't like the "Fit Image" option in screenshot editor.

The first thing I do after capturing a screenshot is to uncheck it.

Actually, we can only capture full-screen images, and the screen resolution / editor size ratio is so high that it is impossible to distinguish anything on the captured image when "Fit Image" is enabled. The zoom level is too low.

Also, I think it is more useful to be able to zoom in instead of zoom out, because sometimes you want point and mark some detail, like a unaligned pixel.

The only zoom adjustment you have today is to resize the window and let it fit the image according to. This is not a very useful and precise approach.

So I'd like to suggest to drop the "Fit Image" button, and have a zoom combo, where you can select pre-defined zoom levels, like 25%, 50%, 100%, 200%, and so on. And the default could be 100%.

While Zoom could be a useful addition, I think that it is important to have a button that's either "Fit Image" or "Actual Size". For example, the very nice and simple Vista image viewer has both, one beside the other (attachment coming). Picasa has something parallel. Fyi, in Vista the tooltip changes from "Actual Size" to "Fit to Window". So while zoom could be useful, I think it would be in addition to, not as a replacement of, the "Actual Size" functionality?

OK, I was in doubt if having the 2 would clutter the interface.

And what do you think about having the zoom initially adjusted to 100%? The Vista image editor initially fits the image, but I'm wondering if we should follow the same way for our screenshots, since it makes practically impossible to distinguish UI elements.

The screenshot page now supports setting a zoom level.
